The Strategy Group partnered with Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal to develop an Innovation Framework that will allow DBCT to investigate innovation and technology opportunities to modernise systems and processes and foster a culture of entrepreneurship, ideation and prototyping.
A six-phase journey to building DBCT’s innovation capability
We embarked on a 6 Phase journey to set DBCT on an Innovation Strategy:
1. Innovation Capability Assessment
- Through our Innovation Assessment, immersions and benchmark
2. Innovation Opportunity Statement
- Organisational insights
3. Innovation Strategy
- A Co-design session to frame the innovation pipeline. Integrate innovation into existing strategic processes and define a set of innovation priorities
4. Innovation Framework
- Best practice framing
5. Innovation Capability Plan
- A structured plan to embed and change manage the Innovation program into the business
6. Innovation Culture Plan
Define a culture map including innovation artefacts and rituals
Fuelling business growth through a clearly defined Innovation Strategy
An Innovation assessment revealed that there three areas where DBCT performed well, including Customer Centricity which is a key driver for innovation success.
However, the adoption of technology was highlighted as an area of concern.
The executive team developed an innovation statement and an innovation prioritisation map, ranking the quick wins against the major projects.
