Facilitating a Series of Innovation and Strategy Bootcamps for Senior Leaders

The Strategy Group worked with Rail Projects Victoria (RPV) to deliver a series of comprehensive Innovation and Strategy training sessions to up-skill their senior leaders with capabilities and skillsets that can be applied in their roles.
The challenge was to support RPV leaders to get into a problem-solving mindset, in a world filled with constant disruption and change, to help them lead with clarity and encourage the adoption of new skills, practices and innovative thinking.
A series of hands-on workshops with activities and frameworks to build the capability and skillsets of senior leaders
The Strategy Group developed and facilitated half-day workshops with two key focus areas – Innovation and Strategy. Our approach focused on demonstrating a direct link between the concepts and theories taught and the practical application of them in a workplace setting.
The online workshops consisted of several breakout rooms to encourage collaboration and allow participants to co-create innovative ideas and solve problems together while working in teams. We set the leaders up to understand what sparks (and also stops) ideas, and what are the key drivers required to implement a successful strategy and innovation process.
The goal was to leave the senior leaders feeling inspired and energised, with the knowledge and understanding of frameworks for innovation and strategy and the confidence to use them.
Equipping senior leaders with a comprehensive set of practical innovation skills and tools
Across the workshops, the senior leaders of RPV were equipped with a comprehensive set of skills, tools and frameworks by working collaboratively on real-life examples and applying the skills learnt to work-related problems.
Such skills and tools included:
• Understanding the different types of innovation and how to embed innovation into their roles
• Empathising with customer needs and stakeholders
• Adopting the behaviours required to drive and lead an innovative culture
• Utilising different strategic frameworks required for actionable and successful outcomes
Ultimately, RPV leaders were up-skilled in innovation and strategy, and learned the tools needed to solve everyday problems, complex issues and opportunities.
