Challenge

Bolton Clarke, one of Australia’s leading providers of aged care services, recognised the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in a care delivery and operational efficiency. The Board sought to understand how AI could align with their strategic objectives, address workforce and resident needs, and ensure ethical governance. The challenge was to build organisational awareness and identify initial opportunities, laying the groundwork for future exploration of AI.​

Approach

Developing an AI Strategy Together with the Board​

The Strategy Group partnered with Bolton Clarke to design and deliver the first stage of their AI journey. This stage focused on building awareness, establishing alignment at the Board level, and creating the foundation for strategic AI adoption.​

1. Executive Awareness and Education:​

  • Delivered a tailored ‘Demystifying AI’ workshop to the Board, providing clarity on AI technologies, potential applications, and emerging trends in aged care.​
  • Discussed ethical considerations, including privacy, transparency, and accountability in AI adoption.​

2. Strategic Alignment:​

  • Facilitated discussions to align AI opportunities with Bolton Clarke’s strategic priorities, focusing on enhancing resident care, operational efficiency, and workforce support.​
  • Explored high-level use cases tailored to the aged care sector, such as predictive care analytics and resource optimisation.​

3. Foundational Governance:​

  • Initiated conversations on governance, outlining the principles of ethical AI use and the importance of a robust framework to guide future adoption.​
